hand-woven strap. The print design is based on a
Cypriot proverb accompanied by traditional
weaving paterns and domestic animals.
The strap is carefully woven by a craftswoman,
using a traditional Cypriot technique.
This kitchen towel, is a collaborative product
made with love, wanting to transmit the culture
and wormth of the island.

also as a decorative piece.
Eleni Zartila is a Cypriot weaver, creating textiles
using traditional loom machines and techniques.
From her worksop in Sotira village,
Eleni`s traditional creations comprise of rags,
curtains, pillows and tablecloths, while also producing more modern pieces, such as bags, wallets and placemats. The motifs are varied, from the traditional color stripes to the
“lefkonitziatika” and the “karpasitika” with their bright color patterns. Find more about Eleni here.
Cyprus has a remarkable variety of weaving techniques which varie from region to region.
Lefkoniko village was one of the most important weaving centres and Lefkonitziatiko as the technique is called, characterised by the striped patterns of colorful threads was well known in the whole island.
Every girl learned the art of weaving from her mother and the traditional know how was passed from one generation to another.
The main colors were red, orange, yellow, green and blue compined in various stripes, based on the ability, skill and taste of each weaver.
In our design, the color pink is introduced and used in the weaving process, giving the color compination a more contemporary feeling.
